A Crazy Week For Prompt Hackers
This week has been an absolutely crazy week for Prompt Hackers. Firstly, I was humbled when my little newsletter passed the 1,000 subscriber milestone.
Those of you who visit the archive will have seen that the Prompt Hackers home page has been totally re-vamped to make way for my big announcement of the week.
Tuesday I announced the arrival of my Prompt Hackers Cookbook - A recipe book for advanced Text-2-Text ChatGPT Prompting. As I said in my announcement, “I don’t intend to send out daily emails for the cookbook. Instead I will add it to the weekend news email to let you know what I’ve added.” Scroll down to the bottom find those details.
AI News To Know
In a week where Midjourney 5.2 dropped, Stability Diffusion went simple, and a guy who uses computers to create music says computers will not remove creativity from music.
Harvard Hires An AI Teacher
Harvard University is planning to use an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT as a teacher in its computer science course. The chatbot will be used in the Introduction to Computer Science program, and students will be encouraged to interact with it starting in September.
The AI teacher will be able to provide feedback to students, helping them find errors in their code and giving them suggestions. The goal is to eventually provide personalized support to students and improve the learning experience.
Other AI tools like Google's Bard have also been developed to compete with ChatGPT. While AI technology has its limitations and may not always be accurate, it is expected to improve over time with feedback from students and teachers.

Wimbledon Hires An AI Commentator
Wimbledon is adding AI-powered commentary to its coverage this year.
The All England Club partnered with IBM to provide AI-generated audio commentary and captions for online highlight videos. This service will be available on the Wimbledon app and website, separate from the BBC's coverage. IBM's Watson AI platform, trained in the language of tennis with the club's assistance, will be used for this feature.
Wimbledon already uses IBM's AI technology for its player power index, analyzing player performance. The AI commentary will also include analysis of singles draws, identifying potential surprises. Data collected from various sources on the court will be processed by IBM's AI models and transformed into natural language commentary. This move is a step towards generating AI commentary for full matches. IBM's Watson gained attention for winning the game show Jeopardy! years ago.

A Brewery Hires An AI Brewer [But They May Be Fired Soon!]
A Pennsylvania brewery called Second Sin Brewing recently used artificial intelligence (AI) to create a new beer recipe. The beer is called "Jake Against," and it was made by the head brewer and co-owner, Jake Howell.
The brewery used an AI technology called ChatGPT to generate the recipe. The owners, Jake and Mike, who are lifelong friends, decided to compare the AI-created beer with Jake's own recipe to see which one is better. While Jake believes his beer is superior, he acknowledges that AI could be helpful in the future when he's short on time and needs a recipe quickly.
This is the first time AI has been used to brew a beer in Pennsylvania, according to the Brewers of Pennsylvania trade group. In a competition between Jake's beer and the AI-created beer, Jake won with a score of 60-48.

Grammys Get Ready For AI Songs
The Grammys have introduced new rules regarding artificial intelligence (AI) in music. The CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., explained that AI-generated songs alone will not be eligible for awards. However, songs that involve AI assistance can still be submitted, as long as a human creator is involved.
This means that human songwriters can be recognized for their compositions on songs with AI vocals, and human artists can be eligible for their performances on songs written by AI algorithms.
The new rule aims to value and celebrate human creativity while acknowledging the role of AI in music production. Mason Jr. expects AI to be submitted for consideration this year, given its increasing prevalence in the industry.
The Recording Academy will rely on the honesty of the creative community to disclose AI involvement in song creation. The Academy also acknowledges the need for addressing payment structures and protecting the rights of original vocalists in AI-cloned songs.
The guidelines are subject to change as technology advances, and the Academy will continue to assess and adapt its rules accordingly. Despite the potential of AI in music, Mason Jr. finds both inspiration and fear in its developments. He believes that working with AI technology alongside human creativity will be the key to future music production.
The Academy is aware of the need for further discussions and legislation regarding AI in music, particularly in cases involving voice cloning. Mason Jr. has had conversations with the songwriter behind an AI Drake song and other industry figures to better understand the benefits and potential dangers of AI in music.
Overall, the new rules reflect the evolving landscape of music creation and aim to find a balanced approach to recognizing both human and AI contributions in the industry.
